Cookie & Local Storage Policy
Last updated: 19 September 2026
Under EU rules (the ePrivacy Directive, as applied in Bulgaria by the Commission for Personal Data Protection), non-essential cookies/trackers require prior consent via a consent banner. This describes what we use.
What we use
Strictly necessary (no consent required)
- Authentication cookies — set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in. They are the only cookies we use.
- A bottle you started writing — its message, photo and chosen spot are kept in local storage on your device, so closing the tab does not lose it. Deleted when you send it, and after 30 days otherwise.
- A sign-up in progress — your email address and chosen avatar, kept in local storage for 24 hours while you confirm your email. Never your password.
Functional
- Remembering preferences (units, language, map layers, and the like), that you have seen the introduction, and that you dismissed the notifications prompt — stored locally.
- How smoothly your device renders the map — kept for the current tab only (session storage).
Analytics / performance
- No cookie, and nothing written to your device. We do measure how the app is used, but our analytics is cookieless: it stores no cookie, writes nothing to local storage and uses no persistent identifier, so each visit is a fresh anonymous session that cannot be linked to you or to your earlier visits. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no consent banner is required. The provider is listed in our Privacy Policy (section 5a).
Advertising
We do not use advertising cookies.
Third parties
The map tiles, loaded from OpenFreeMap, are the only third-party content in your browser; it receives your IP when they load. Fonts are served from our own servers and involve no third party. See our Privacy Policy (section 5) for the full provider list.
Managing cookies
We store only strictly necessary and functional cookies/local storage on your device, so no consent banner is shown. If we introduce trackers that require consent, a consent banner will be added first. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; some features may then not work.
