Welcome to Bottl. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Bottl application, website, and related services (the "Service"), operated by YDA Ltd (UIC 206471089) ("Bottl", "we", "us"), established in Bulgaria. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old — or older, where your country sets a higher age for consenting to online services on your own. Creating an account asks you to confirm this; we do not ask for your date of birth, and we take your word for it. Bottl puts strangers into private, one-to-one correspondence with each other and neither side chooses the other, so we act on reports quickly: if we learn that an account belongs to someone below the age, we close it and delete its data.
Bottl lets you write a message, seal it in a virtual "bottle", and release it. Bottles travel across a map driven by real wind and ocean-current data and are discovered by other users, who may reply. You may also "pin" a bottle to a precise spot, where anyone passing by can find it. A bottle is opened on the spot: you have to be physically near it. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use, "as is", for entertainment and social connection.
You keep ownership of the messages, images, and other content you submit ("User Content"). By submitting it, you grant Bottl a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit it solely to operate and provide the Service (for example, delivering your bottle to another user, showing it on the map, or translating it when a reader asks). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has already been received by another user or where we must keep it to comply with law. You represent that you have the right to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe anyone's rights.
Because bottles are received by strangers, we take content seriously. You must not submit content that:
Where you may pin a bottle. A pinned bottle stays at the exact spot you choose, and that spot is shown precisely to whoever comes looking for it. Pin public places only — a park, a square, a café. Never a private home, yours or someone else's, and never anywhere a stranger arriving to look for a bottle would be trespassing or unwelcome. We take pins placed on private residences off the map, and you can take one of yours off the map yourself, at any time, from the bottle.
We may remove content and suspend or ban users at our discretion, especially to protect user safety, and may report illegal content to the authorities.
Users can report bottles and messages — including a pin placed somewhere it should not be, which you can report from the bottle itself without opening it. We review reports and may act on them. We are not obligated to monitor all content but reserve the right to. Given the anonymous, stranger-to-stranger nature of the Service, use your judgment and never share sensitive personal information in a message.
Bottl is free: no feature is paid today. If paid features are introduced, these Terms will first be updated with their prices, what each purchase includes, the payment processor, and your consumer rights, including the EU right of withdrawal.
The Service relies on third-party providers for maps, weather/wind/current data, hosting, email and translation (see our Privacy Policy for the current list). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party services, and their own terms may apply.
The Service itself — its name, logo ("Bottl"), design, code, and content we provide — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that bottles will be delivered, discovered, reach a particular place, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Wind and current routing is approximate and for entertainment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bottl will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, content, or profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including, for consumers, mandatory statutory rights).
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will notify you (in-app or by email) before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by Bulgarian law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. Disputes are subject to the competent Bulgarian courts, subject to mandatory rules allowing consumers to sue in their home courts. EU consumers may also seek an out-of-court settlement through an approved alternative dispute resolution body — for a trader established in Bulgaria, the conciliation commissions at the Commission for Consumer Protection (kzp.bg), or any body on the European Commission's list (consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu).
